ONTARIO – The Ontario Health Coalition is calling on the Ford Government to let residents of long term care homes go outside and enjoy the Springtime.
Almost every single LTC home resident in the Province is vaccinated and yet, they are still not allowed outside for day trips. The OHC hosted a virtual press conference today featuring a resident who has been denied the ability to go outside and family members.
The Province has not had a COVID-19 related death at a long term care home for the past 9 days. In the entire Province right now, only 9 residents of Long Term Care Homes have COVID-19. The Ontario Health Coalition says they’re not asking for residents to go to malls or restaurants, just to simply go outside and enjoy some fresh air and get some much needed vitamin D from the sunshine.
They talked about the Nelson Mandela rule at prisons, which states you should not be in isolation for longer than 15 days. Many seniors have been in isolation for much longer than that.
You can watch the press conference on the Ontario Health Coalitions Facebook page.
