Midland ‘Trojan Horse’ event cancelled due to stormy weather

CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU-CUPE), Ontario Health Coalition event had been slated for Friday afternoon
On Friday afternoon, a 15-foot wooden Trojan Horse was expected to visit Midland town hall to symbolize “the duplicity of the Ontario PCs hospital services’ privatization plan.”
But it turns out Trojan Horses are better suited to warmer climes with officials opting to cancel the event due to stormy weather.
As part of their provincewide Trojan Horse tour, CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU-CUPE) and the Ontario Health Coalition are calling for an end to ongoing privatization of hospital surgeries and diagnostic tests, and demanding the government invest in staffing and capacity in public hospitals.
The event was expected to feature not only the wooden equine, but also OCHU-CUPE president Michael Hurley, GBGH emergency department doctor Martin McNamara along with Fran Moreau and Garry Bryant.
